Australian Industry and Defence Network (AIDN)
AIDN provides the focal point for Defences interaction with Australias dynamic base of small defence
companies As per the Defence & Industry Strategic Statement, June 1998.
AIDN facilities the effective and efficient communication between State bodies and Federal Government
departments, in particular the Department of Defence. AIDN is actively supported by the Department
of Defence, State and Territory Governments as the peak body nationally representing over 600 SMEs
engaged in defence business. Essentially, our focus is on assisting Australian small to medium size
businesses to gain greater access to defence industry information, resources and key decision makers

Australian Business Defence Industry Unit (DIU)
Businesses wishing to tap into the $22 billion annual Defence budget need look no further than
the Australian Business Defence Industry Unit (DIU), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the NSW Business
Chamber located in Canberra. The DIUs role is to provide its members with the information, advice,
training and networks to help them win business with the Department of Defence and Federal, State
and Territory Governments. Membership of the DIU is the best starting point to examine potential
opportunities within the Defence and national security markets. The needs of Government vary from
